George L. Orr, 67, of Wells, passed away on December 26, 2012 after a long illness. George was a lifelong resident of Wells. He was born on August 12, 1945, a son of the late Lee Orr and Mary A. Tubbs Orr.

An avid outdoorsman, George enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He always loved telling hunting and fishing stories.  He was always ready to help those in need.

He was a member of the Gideon's and the Wells Wesleyan Church.

George was at one time employed by the Fulton County Machine Shop in Gloversville, where he went through their apprenticeship program and became a machinist.  He also worked in the construction business in Troy.  Eventually, he started his own contracting business, working in the Lake Pleasant, Speculator and Wells area for many years.

George is survived by his loving wife Sandra, whom he married in 1978, as well as, two sons; Charles Orr (Laura) of Lake Pleasant and Lee Orr (Lindsey) of Wells; four grandchildren Carter, Macy, Noah and Madalyn; three siblings Donald Orr (Mary) of Speculator, Marjorie Haak of Warrensburg, and James Orr (Susan) of Wells and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2nd from the Wells Wesleyan Church, 1332 State Route 30, Wells, NY 12190.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in George's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078 or Helping Hands Caregivers, 145 White Birch Lane, Indian Lake, NY 12842

Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
